Growing ourselves, growing the field of academic staff development

This year the focus of the PD SIG is on growing ourselves and enhancing the field of academic staff development practice in South Africa.

You are invited to join the HELTASA Professional Development Special Interest Group (PD SIG) for two days of learning and deliberations on the following topics in a series of workshops, round table discussions and panel discussions.

  • Growing our agency as academic staff developers
  • Practices to induct the next generation of academic staff developers
  • What are the most useful texts / resources for staff development work?
  • Framing a research agenda for academic development
  • Doing curriculum work with academics and academic departments
  • Sharing AD practices

The workshop will be held over two full days, so please be sure to make your travel arrangements accordingly. The cost of the workshop is R750. This includes tea, coffee, snacks and lunches.

This year’s PD SIG event is co-hosted by the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) and Rhodes University and will be held at the North Campus of NMMU. Details of venue to follow.
