The International Consortium of Higher Education Development
HELTASA is affiliated as the South African network contributing to this international consortium. The consortium accepts only one member per country and presently has 24 members.

The Department of Higher Education and Training
The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) is responsible for managing the post schooling education sector.

Universities South Africa
USAf endorses a comprehensive and equitable national higher education system that is responsive to the challenges facing South Africa. Through lobbying and advocacy, USAf promotes and facilitates an optimal environment conducive for universities to function effectively and efficiently.

South African University Teachers
For several decades, in South African universities research has been prioritized over teaching in the hiring and rewarding of academic staff. Furthermore, university teaching generally has not been viewed as a professional activity, requiring appropriate knowledge, skills and dispositions and, like any professional activity, continuous professional learning.

National Coordinating Committee
To oversee the implementation of the National Framework for Enhancing Academics as University Teachers, a National Coordinating Committee (NCC) was established. The NCC comprises representatives from all public universities, the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), Council on Higher Education (CHE), Universities South Africa (USAF) and the Higher Education Learning and Teaching Association of South Africa (HELTASA). NCC will guide at a national level, and monitor implementation at institutional level.

The Council on Higher Education
One of the aims of HELTASA is to interact with Council on Higher Education (CHE) and the Higher Education Quality Committee (HEQC) on matters pertaining to quality, capacity-building and professional recognition of educators higher education.
