HELTASA has two main affiliations:
The International Consortium of Higher Education Development (ICED)
HELTASA has affiliated to this international consortium. The consortium accepts only one member per country and presently has 24 members. The member can represent an organization (such as HELTASA) or a network (such as the German Network for Academic Development). Member countries include: Netherlands, Finland, Sri Lanka (SLAAHE), Australia (HERDSA), Ireland, US (POD), UK (SEDA), Norway, Israel and Estonia. There appears to be a loose link with an international Francophone equivalent network.
The Council on Higher Education (CHE)
One of the aims of the association is to interact with Council on Higher Education (CHE) and the Higher Education Quality Committee (HEQC) on matters pertaining to quality, capacity-building and professional recognition of educators and trainers (in their roles as educators and trainers) in HET. HELTASA runs the National Excellence in Teaching and Learning Awards in collaboration with the Higher Education Quality Committee (HEQC) of the Council for Higher Education (CHE). The award has been running for five years now.
