ICED Pre-Conference Panel Discussion

This Webinar serves as a forum for the exchange of best practices in innovative pedagogies, with a special focus on methodologies that are responsive to the educational needs and challenges of the 21st century. It aims to foster a global dialogue as educators and academic developers pause to reflect on their educational practices and its impact on students. This forum discussion will contribute to the shaping of a future-ready educational landscape that is adaptable, inclusive, and equipped to cultivate the full potential of students in the 21st century.

The provocateurs will share their insights and experiences on the topic as well as the challenges and opportunities in implementing these pedagogies in diverse educational contexts, particularly in resource-constrained environments.

About Our Speakers:

Associate Professor Dr Norli Ali

Associate Professor Dr Norli Ali, CA(M), ACMA, CGMA is currently a lecturer at Faculty of Accountancy, UiTM. Graduated with a BSc (Accounting, 1994) from University of North Carolina at Charlotte, NC, USA, Master of Science (Finance, 2001) and PhD (Economics, 2010), both from Universiti Putra Malaysia. She is a member of Malaysia Institute of Chartered Accountant as C.A (M), and an Associate Member of Chartered Institute of Management Accountant (ACMA) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) from CIMA (UK). She is also one of the certified CIMA Trainer for Strategic Case Study. Her research interest is mainly in finance, financial market, management accounting, corporate finance and financial economics. Besides lecturing, she also held management post as Deputy Dean of Academic (2016-2020) and Head of Academic Centre of Postgraduate (2015) in Faculty of Accountancy, UiTM. She is also active in research and consultancy work.


Associate Prof. Dr. Vydehi

Associate Prof. Dr. Vydehi is a distinguished academician and computer science expert with over two decades of experience. Beginning as a programmer at Shanthi Castings, Coimbatore, she transitioned into education, holding positions at institutions like Aishwarya Institute of Information Technology and Pioneer College of Arts and Science. She is the former Head of the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology and currently an Associate Professor at Dr. SNS Rajalakshmi College of Arts and Science, Dr. Vydehi has extensive experience in teaching and research, particularly in big data and data mining. Her contributions include supervising M.Phil. scholars and publishing numerous papers in esteemed journals. Additionally, she actively participates in curriculum development and has organised and presented at various academic events. Dr. Vydehi also serves on various committees and boards within her institution, showcasing her dedication to maintaining high education standards. Passionate about education, she continues to inspire both students and colleagues in the field of computer science.


Dr Kevin Ncube

Dr Kevin Ncube is a Senior Lecturer at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology

He Holds a PhD in Education from Rhodes University and an MSc in Strategic Marketing from the University of Hertfordshire in the UK and Undergraduate qualifications in Marketing and also in Hotel and Catering Management.

He is currently teaching Consumer Behaviour to undergraduate students, Strategic Digital Marketing to Postgraduate Diploma Students and is involved in interdisciplinary postgraduate research supervision.

At an international level he has taught and assessed a variety of subjects in English to second language speakers with mother tongue languages from countries including China, Germany, Russia, Rwanda and Zambia.

His current research interest includes centering mother tongue languages in higher education, exploring undergraduate participation in research and knowledge creation. This has included running conferences for undergraduate students and publication of mini -conference papers. The writings generated for the conferences have been pivotal in the development of learning materials in African languages which have further facilitated the teaching and assessment in African languages.

His interest in language research, he argues, is not by choice but a response to issues which continuously emerge at the nexus of language, access to powerful knowledge and student success.
