Portfolio Development: Towards advancing academic identity and innovation
Join us for an interactive session focused on Portfolio Development – a critical tool in recognising, articulating, and advancing your professional identity in Higher Education Learning and Teaching. This session will explore how portfolios can serve not only as a requirement for teaching awards, such as institutional teaching awards and the National University Teaching Awards (NUTA), but also as a powerful strategy for personal branding and professional learning for scholarships and project applications.
What to expect
This 90-minute session will guide attendees through:
- The imperatives of a teaching and learning portfolio in the current higher education landscape.
- Teaching philosophy development and its foundational role in a portfolio.
- Criteria alignment: understanding and responding effectively to portfolio requirements.
- Narrative structure: how to develop a coherent and compelling portfolio that is fit for purpose.
- Using evidence: demonstrating impact in ways that are authentic and meaningful.
- Avoiding common pitffalls: practical evidence on what to do- and what not to do- when compiling your portfolio.
Whether you are preparing for a teaching award, enhancing your professional profile, or supporting others in portfolio development, this session aims to offer strategic insights and practical tools/approaches for creating a portfolio that reflects teaching excellence across your career pathways.
