Be part of the scholarly conversation facilitated by our Academic Development Project Team on 05 November from 11:00-13:00 focusing on how the identities of academic developers have evolved over time due to changes in the Higher Education (HE) landscape. The pre-conference scholarly conversation will question the AD identities and positionality within the institutions of higher learning and the implications thereof.  The aim is to engage on how the AD identities have evolved and are contextually shaped. This pre-conference event will focus on the conference theme of ‘Sivela phi?’ ‘Siphi?’ and ‘Siya phi?’

Responding to the ‘Sivela phi?’ question, the conversation will focus on the historical underpinnings AD and unpack its evolution in South Africa.

‘Siphi’ will encourage participants to reflect on how AD identities are contextually shaped in response to their historical contexts and in preparation for future learning spaces.

Using the lens of ‘Siya phi’, the scholarly conversation will support HELTASA’s strategic direction of being responsive, resilient, and relevant, by adopting an (Un)Conference approach that is participant driven to enable equitable engagement and emancipatory praxis.
