Job Purpose
To provide strategic and leadership in curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment development in a 21st Century University of Technology; to promote and lead research towards developing the scholarship of teaching and learning within the institution; to promote and support national and international partnerships in Higher Education teaching and learning; manage and lead academics, administrative staff and processes in Fundani Centre.
Minimum Requirements
- A PhD (or equivalent) in the field of Higher Education Studies and/or related specialisation pertinent to the HE field
- Relevant and recent publications record in Higher Education studies (e.g. Teaching in HE, IJAD, Higher Education and/or SAJHE and other SA publications)
- At least 5 years management experience in an academic centre, department or unit
- Evidence of national and international higher education partnership and/or linkages
Recommendation
- English plus 2 South African languages
- Specialist knowledge of one of the following: academic staff development; student learning and support including foundation programmes; academic literacy or other language In HE related abilities; educational technology and 21st Century learning modalities
- Understanding of HE internationally
- Experience of leadership in promoting and conducting research towards developing the scholarship of teaching and learning with the Institution
