The Research Unit Self-Directed Learning at the North-West University has announced the 5th International Self-Directed Learning (SDL) conference. The conference aims to interrogate the components of self-directed learning through the theme Self-directed learning: Engaged pedagogies. In light of the expansion of remote teaching, and the necessity of it during the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for self-directed goals, motivation, conceptualisation, monitoring and evaluation has become fundamental in a contemporary higher education landscape, both for learners and teachers.

The full scope of this theme will be explored through these sub-themes:

  • Engaged assessment for SDL
  • Engaged self-directed play
  • Engaged technology and multimodal learning for SDL
  • Engaged curriculum and praxis for SDL
  • Engaged teaching and learning strategies for SDL

Date: 31 October 2022 – 2 November 2022
Platform: Zoom

The conference will be entirely virtual and delegates are invited to register below.
