Arthi Ramrung
I am currently working at Mangosuthu University of Technology as a lecturer within the Teaching and Learning Development Centre from July 2013; having previously lectured at the Durban University of Technology in the Chemistry Department from 2004. Working with students is a passion of mine, as I feel that they hold the key to their own success. As such, I initiated a peer mentorship at the university that has been successfully supporting our first-year students since 2014. I am now heading the First-Year Experience programme at MUT, whilst still participating in lecturing (chemistry) and professional development activities. We also work with supporting students through an Academic Advising programme recently established. I believe in providing holistic support for our students, and this goes hand-in-hand with the professional development of staff. I have a Master’s in Chemistry (DUT), a PG Dip in Higher Education (RU), and am currently registering for a PhD in Education (UCT) as part of the HELTASA PhD programme.
